Walking leads away from the beaten path, and allows visits to out of the way places reachable only on foot. | Moderate treks are generally no more than five nights in duration, and reach a maximum altitude of approximately 12,000 feet, which is just below timberline. Trekkers need to be in good physical shape, and enjoy hiking for most of the day and camping at night. The trek portion of the tours is combined with extensive sightseeing and cultural activities. |

High treks can be from less than one to three weeks in length, and reach altitudes above 13,000 feet, where the treeline ends. Passes crossed can be as high as 15,000-18,000 feet. Trekkers need to be in exceptionally good physical condition, and enjoy strenuous hiking. No technical climbing skills are required. The rewards of the exertion required for these high treks is the opportunity to see the most beautiful and remote parts of Bhutan's spectacular mountain scenery. All treks are combined with cultural sightseeing. |
